A Behind The Scenes Look at Hydra-Flex: Quality Testing
Not only do Hydra-Flex's Aqua-Lab systems deliver chemistry to car wash applicators - we are also committed to delivering high quality products at a competitive price. To do this, all products undergo rigorous testing protocols - both during development, and before they ship out the door.
STEP #1 - R&D TESTING
This spring, Hydra-Flex finished construction of a new, multifunctional test lab that includes both a wet bay and several high pressure nozzle test stands. We use the wet bay to simulate the normal conditions of a car wash - even running 100 ft. of 1/2" Poly-Flow tube out to an arch to mimic realistic line-loss and back-pressure conditions. Tests measure whether we're meeting our strict standards for product life (measured in either hours or wash cycles), quality, and adherence to customer specifications and expectations. The use of statistical modeling also ensures that we can be confident in our results.
In April, Hydra-Flex brought Jeremy Gilsdorf on as full-time test engineer. According to Jeremy, "It's exciting to be a part of an innovative team where my role is to ensure that our products will do what we say they're going to do. And I can't wait to add even more testing capability to the lab."
STEP #2- PRODUCTION TESTING
From pressure gauges to strobe lights, production lead, Sopheara Khuon, walked me through the tools used to check for things such as leaks, fluid draw, proper wiring, stream quality, and RPM. Each Chem-Flex™ Injector, each Blast-Tec Pro™ Nozzle, and each Aqua-Lab™ Chemical Dispensing System is tested to identify and prevent potential problems before they make it into the field. But it doesn't stop there. If a product gets returned, it is inspected and tested to determine the cause of that failure, so that we can continuously improve our design and production processes.
